Copolymer Adhesive is a polyolefin based adhesive polymer containing anhydride functionality. It can be in granule form and is mainly used as adhesive layer in 3 layer polyethylene system (3LPE) for steel pipe against corrosion coating system in oil and gas pipeline and high pressure water pipeline. The purpose of the Copolymer Adhesive is to bond the epoxy layer to the top polyethylene coat.

Features:

(1) Copolymer Adhesive active group may form a bonding of chemical bond with epoxy, and form a polar bonding of intermolecular force with steel substrate, and its main part of polyolefin may form a combination of homogeneous melt with the PE layer, so as to form a high adhesive strength.

(2) Copolymer Adhesive has good physical and mechanical properties, electrical insulation properties, and creep resistance.

(3) Copolymer Adhesive with a process performance the same as thermoplastics, it may be extruded for cladding, wrapped laterally, and made into powder for spraying.

Application:

Copolymer Adhesive for 3LPE Systems provide excellent pipeline protection for small and large diameter pipelines with moderate to high operating temperatures.

Can be applied to pipe diameters from 51 mm (2”) to over 1220 mm (48”).

Application Process:



 Process for use:

(1) The Copolymer Adhesive usually appears even white plastic particles, with the process performance of thermoplastics. It may be processed by general plastic molding equipment.

(2) The Copolymer Adhesive is applicable for extrusion wrapping process and extrusion cladding process for anticorrosion structure of 2PE and 3PE, and it may also be made into powder for spraying.

(3) Temperature recommended for extrusion process of the Copolymer Adhesive:

Deed section:150-170 degrees C,

Head: 190-200 degrees C,

Compression section: 170-180 degrees C,

Adaptor:200-230 degrees C,

Homogenization section 180-200 degrees C,

Die: 190-230 degrees C.

Screw speed of extruder: it should be set and adjusted based on the structure of screw for the extruder, aspect ratio of screw, die coefficient, extension length of melt film (distance between the die and steel pipe) ,relevant equipment, processing speed, etc.

(4) As the Copolymer Adhesive is used for anticorrosion structure of 2PE, it is recommended that the steel pipe should be heated at a temperature of 200-230 degrees C

(5) As the Copolymer Adhesive is used for anticorrosion structure of 3PE, the temperature for heating the steel pipe should be determined by gel time for the epoxy powder. It is recommended that the steel pipe should be heated at a temperature of 150-200 degrees C


Application Process:

(1) For the packing, paper-plastic compound bag is selected, with 25 kg/bag.

(2) In the process of transportation, storage, and use: avoid moisture, oil, acid and alkali, exposure, as well as naked fire.

(3) Validity: 12 months
